Slow down for productivity

It may seem counterintuitive, but sometimes we need to slow down for productivity. In this 24/7 world, it feels like we always need to have something going. There are so many distractions around us that it’s easy to get pulled in different directions
Applying focus to our day can help us accomplish tasks. Sometimes we need to step back, take a breath and concentrate on our priorities. If we get caught up trying to accomplish too many things at one time, either nothing gets done or a few things get done badly. This isn’t what we want.
We also need to model this behavior for our staff. If we appear overwhelmed and out of control, we send a stressful message that heightens anxiety and ultimately reduces productivity.
Step away from your phone, your desk and your computer periodically and encourage staff to do the same. Even taking a couple of minutes away can help us concentrate better. Walk outside, listen to music, read something fun just to give your brain a chance to rest.
Encourage your staff to do this, too, so that they can be more productive. Sometimes we must slow down to move forward.
