Using summer ideas to boost morale

Summer can be a busy time with the differing schedules and longer days, so how can we use that to boost employee morale? When it comes to it, productivity and morale can ebb and flow in organizations, so what can you do to stay on an upswing?
Changing seasons is a great time to relook at how you’re doing things and maybe shake things up a little to encourage creativity and provide a boost to morale. Many employees have vacation plans during the summer but what about those who don’t? How can you motivate your staff in ways that keep them invested and focused?
Have you ever had a vacation day at work (maybe allowing for a more relaxed dress code and/or some fun activities)? Have you thought about bringing in an ice cream (or other) treat as a fun surprise or picked a random day to let everyone take off a little early? What about calling for a “no meeting Friday” or “no email Monday”?
What is something frequent you do, that can take up a portion of your days/weeks that you could place a temporary hold on to create a welcome reprieve for you and your staff? Taking meetings outside or picking new leaders for meetings or drawing names for an afternoon off may provide some fun relief and encourage creative conversations.
Think about ways to shake things up and/or task different departments or team members to come up with some ideas. You might be surprised at some of the notions and have some fun in the process.
Work can become rote, and we don’t tend to do our best on those situations. So, use the change in seasons to inspire fun and creativity in order to boost morale.
