Year-End Plans

As we get closer to the last quarter, we need to remind staff to review their year-end plans and make sure things are on target.
Where is your staff with their PTO—do they have a lot of available time off they’ll need to use between now and the end of the year, or are they completely out and will be scrounging through year end? Do you need to discuss how to manage either scenario?
Do you/they have established goals that need to be completed by year end? Where are they in getting those accomplished? And what can be done to help them move forward?
As we get further into third quarter, companies are typically looking at budgets to see where things are netting out and beginning to put together ideas for the following year. We need to be doing the same with our staff and encourage them to be proactive, making plans and setting goals.
Have conversations with staff as to what they want to accomplish in the next few months. In addition, get them started thinking about the following year’s goals—what needs to be done now to help make those viable? In addition, what are their time off plans through year end, and is that feasible based on available time off and production/services schedules?
If we don’t look up occasionally to see where we are, we’ll likely not get to where we want to go. Making plans and setting goals is important, but if we don’t review them periodically, they likely won’t succeed and/or we’ll waste potentially productive time.
Regroup with staff to make sure they’re on target or determine ways to get them back on track. Have the conversations soon or time will be gone!
